EMBRACE YOUR LOVE OF VINYL AND LIVE MUSIC THIS SATURDAY

The Parisian equivalent of the highly successful Record Store Day is known as Disquaire Day...

...and it promises to be packed full of highlights for music obsessives of all stripes. An event held with the stated aim of helping to ensure the continued existence of record shops in the age of iTunes, Amazon, Spotify et al., new, rare and re-issued releases will be available from the city’s many music emporiums – Groove Store, Fargo and Vinyl Office are some of our favourites – while live performances and parties will also take place across the French capital.

If you’re looking to splash some cash on rare pieces of vinyl, head down to Cafe A near Canal Saint-Martin – a ten minute walk across the canal from Generator Paris – where several indie labels will be flogging their wares. If live entertainment is more what you’re after, check out electronic trio Renart, Svengalisghost and Caandides at Petit Bain near the National Library. Advance tickets are on sale now at €10 for what will be a wonderful, boozy night of ecstatic electro-pop after a wonderful, boozy day of ecstatic record buying. Just makes sure you have the remaining wherewithal to get your precious records home safely.

Some of the nearest record shops to Generator Paris are in the 10e arrondissement, like Music Please Record Shop and Ground Zero. Check out Disquaire's official website to find out more.
