Free Concert at Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
What could be better than some free music in the Venice summer sun? Not much! 15th August is a public holiday in Venice and so you are likely to find that many of the local residents take the opportunity to head out of the city for a break at the beach. Don’t let this put you off though as there is still plenty to do. The nearby island of Torcello, the oldest continuously populated region of Venice, is only a short boat trip away and a great place to spend a warm summer’s day. One of the most striking sights is the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta on the north end of the island and usually there is a free concert on the 15th August.
