St Patricks Day London
The crowd is a sea of green, with hats, shirts and painted faces all sporting the colour of the Emerald Isle. If you are in London around St Patrick’s Day you can be sure of one thing – it will be packed with happy party goers.
This year the famous parade is on Sunday 16th March and it is well worth getting up early on Sunday morning to see the parade, which starts out from Green Park. Then it travels past Piccadilly Circus, along the Haymarket through Trafalgar Square and then winds up in Whitehall. Trafalgar Square is the focus of the festival and will be well stocked with live music and comedy, food stalls plus a huge outdoor Ceili from 12pm.
If this is all a bit much for you and you would prefer a traditional Irish dinner and a few pints of the black stuff to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland, try one of the many Irish pubs in London. A little way out of the city is The Water Poet in Spitalfields. They offer an authentic Irish menu and a warm welcome.
Whatever you decide to do in London on St Patrick’s Day we hope you have a good craic!
