Raindance Film Festival at Apollo Piccadilly
“What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”, “The Blair Witch Project” and “Dead Man’s Shoes” may never have seen the light of day if not for the support the independent filmmakers get from the Raindance Film Festival in London. Variety, the famous actors’ magazine, has said that Raindance is in the top 50 of unmissable film festivals.
To give you an idea of the quality of what is on offer last year there was screenings of “Portrait of a Zombie” a smart mockumentary about family, love and blood, “Bad Hair Friday”, a hectic journey over one bad Friday, and unsettling thriller “The Ascent”. To get the best deals, many of the films have cheaper screenings before 5pm, which means you can see the last cutting edge cinema for peanuts.
