Victoria Park is the beautiful setting for London’s biggest dance festival Lovebox. With the best in electro and house music blasting out across the crowd this festival promises to be one of the best clubbing gigs of the year.
Let’s get straight to some of the top names on the line-up and a few surprises too:
Chase & Status – Friday
Headlining this year’s festival is London’s leading electronic duo Chase & Status. While their roots are firmly in the clubs of London they are branching out to mix in hip hop, dubstep, house, garage and jungle to their iconic sound.
M.I.A. – Saturday
Another local act M.I.A. performs an amazing blend of hip hop, electronica and bhangra fusion. Although hailing from Hounslow, much of her music has a heavy Middle East influence.
Katy B – Friday
Finally recognised as a supreme talent when she got her Mercury nomination in 2011 Katy B will be singing out her R&B influenced tunes. You will probably know her debut single “Katy on a Mission”.
Nas – Saturday
A legend in his own lifetime Nas has come full circle to Lovebox to perform his iconic album “Illmatic” just for you, including the stunning single “NY State of Mind”.
Crystal Fighters – Saturday
Having played alongside Chic and Chaka Khan last time they were in London this band have a fast, mesmeric and passionate style that will keep you on your feet for the whole set.
Craig Charles – Friday
A golden oldie, Craig has been sharing his love of Funk and Soul on Radio 6 Music for 10 years. Now you can see the legendary alter ego of Dave Lister from Red Dwarf and Lloyd Mullaney from Coronation Street live at Lovebox.
Other amazing things happening include VOGA classes – think yoga with Vogue – relive the seventies in all their glitzy glory at the Roller Boogie and witness some awesome moves at the Dance Off featuring Breakin’ Convention and East London Dance. It’s going to be one wild weekend.
Victoria Park is about 45 minutes by Underground from Generator London, and about an hour away by bus.
