Richard Long at Kunsthalle Hamburg
Richard Long is an artist known for his love of the landscape who has been nominated for the Turner Prize a record 4 times. Arguably one of the most straightforward and uncompromising yet surreal and abstract works is his seminal piece “A Line Made By Walking”, as a young student he simply made a line in a patch of grass by walking up and down repeatedly.
He uses the landscape as its own sculpture in new ways which makes his work seem amazingly new and ancient at the same time. As you look at each picture imagine yourself walking into it and what you might find on that walk.
