Red Bull Flying Illusion
The atmosphere in the huge stadium is tense and hushed as the lights dim – the show is about to start. You feel you heartbeat quicken slightly as you have no idea what to expect. The Red Bull Flying Illusion is a ground breaking mix of stunning break dancing and master class illusions.
The dancers twist and turn in seemingly impossible moves and you will find it hard not to be amazed at their physical fitness and dexterity. They are obviously incredibly well trained as this trailer shows:
This showcase of amazing talent comes from the breakdance company Flying Steps which are based in Berlin, and is a mix of dance and visual illusions. Blurring the lines between what is real and what is not, the show will have you entranced.
To get to O2 World in Hamburg it is probably best to hop onto the S3 at Hamburg Jungfernstieg then it’s a 20 minute walk to the arena from the station at Eidelstedt. Alternatively, the number 3 bus takes you to Kaltenkircher Platz where you can get the 180 and be dropped right at the door.
As the show starts after 8pm you will probably want to get dinner beforehand in the city. For some great Thai food try Manee Thai on Brandstwiete. You will get a warm welcome, an ample portion of authentic Thai food, and it is not too hard on the pocket either.
Kartoffel Keller on Deichstraße is one of our favourites – a cosy place located downstairs in an old potato cellar. If you are looking for German ambience and a friendly beer keller this is the place for you. The potato theme runs throughout especially on the menu which again will not break the bank.
For a succulent steak try Estancia Steaks on Grosser Reichenstrasse. You can get whatever steak you want, cooked however you want and pick out your own side dishes to go with it. It does get a little busy so it could be worth booking ahead to make sure you get a table.
