Hamburg is a city that knows its fireworks so if you are in the city in September be sure not to miss the annual Pyrogames.
Pyrogames is a very similar event to Berlin’s Pyronale (link back), with professional fireworks teams showing off their skill of transforming the night skies into beautiful landscapes full of colour and sound. There will be onstage entertainment as well with a variety of acts from heavy rock band High Voltage to Stamping Feet, a larger than life drum act.
For budding photographers there is a photo competition and all entries are welcome. Just upload your image to their Facebook page to be in with a chance.
You will need to book your ticket in advance but you can do it online and they cost just 12Euros.The event kicks off around 6pm so you will have plenty of time to get there.
While there is a catering area where you can sample all sorts of goodies it is probably a good idea to get some dinner beforehand. Not far from the main station is Jim Block Jungfernstieg where you can get a fresh, tasty burger cooked while you wait that won’t break the bank.
If you are looking for a proper sit down dinner then try Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht on Adolphsbrucke where you can get a genuine German slap up dinner washed down with one of their superb beers brewed on site. Or try Parlament on Rathausmarkt which is in the town hall. A great location and gorgeous interior complements the delicious food.
Norderstedt is a little way out of central Hamburg. To get there from Generator Hamburg catch the U1 from Hauptbahnhof Süd and the journey should take around 40 minutes.
