CHAOS IN THE CBD
Check out these bangers…
As a producers, DJs and brothers, Chaos In The CBD (aka Ben and Louis Helliker-Hales) spent several years building a reputation in New Zealand as part of a new generation of house progenitors, before relocating to London last year to push their sound to the masses.
Their story is a now familiar tale in the world of electronic music: two figures isolated from the experimental music epicentres of Detroit, London, Berlin et al whilst in their native Auckland, their pop-influenced style of house is heavily influenced by classic house, techno and garage, whilst remaining modern in their approach to what electronic music can represent in 2013.
In their move to London Chaos In The CBD were drawn to a hub of their musical loves, and have stepped their game up as producers and DJs. With a new 12” due out on Urulu’s Amadeus imprint in October, and with a European and UK tour underway (including an upcoming debut appearance at Fabric in London), Chaos In The CBD come to Dublin to show us how New Zealand throws a party.
After quickly establishing himself as one of the go-to Djs of underground club music in Paris Manaré linked up with pioneering french label Clek Clek Boom around 2009 through his long-time friend and fellow label artist French Fries. It wasn’t until 2012, however, that he dropped his critically acclaimed debut EP “Quartz / Down To Dis”.
You might describe his sound as Ghetto & UK Influenced House & Bass; that really doesn’t pin him down. His eclectic musical origins certainly still inform his selection today, reflected in the wide variety of places he has been asked to play; from Sao Paulo to Singapore, Astana or New York. Manaré’s journey is really only just beginning.
Frank B is a DJ and producer from Dublin who has recently gained international acclaim for his breakthrough track “Chain of Fools” that was featured on XLR8R and has over 230,000 views on youtube. He began collecting records and playing out age 15 and currently holds a long-running residency at Pogo in Bodytonic’s Twisted Pepper club. Frank’s slippy and gritty house beats are a perfecy addition to this stellar line-up.
Lorcan has been a household name on the Dublin clubbing scene since 2009. It was his balkan banger “Gypsy Bum” that was released on Laidback Lukes label Mixmash Records which propelled him into the spotlight. So far Lorcan has already played to crowds exceeding 15,000 as one of the headlining acts at the XBOX Live stage in 2009 & Nokia Live stage in 2010 at Ireland’s “Oxegen Festival” and at the “Little Big Tent” at “Electric Picnic Festival”. His unique and refreshing approach to producing house music and his highly energetic and memorable dj sets have seen him headline at gigs and events all over the world, from New York to Paris to Barcelona, even as far as Bangkok. He has recently relocated to London to work on new music. We look forward to having him back on Irish soil for this event.
Entrance for guests staying in Generator on the night is free.
