Zulu The Colour Run
Ever fancied running a 5km race while being showered with bright colours so you emerge at the finish line looking like a human rainbow? Well, with “the happiest 5k on the planet”, you can do just that!
Looking at The Colour Run website and all the amazing pictures from past events, it’s easy to believe that this really is the most fun running event in the world. More about having a good time than finishing in record time, it doesn’t matter if you run, jog, walk or skip around the track. The race is a day of music, costumes, friends, and of course, colour. At every kilometre, runners are pelted with coloured powder, and you are even given your own powder to unleash on your friends once the race is over. Be sure to wear white to get the best effects, and don’t worry, it’s just cornflour so it will wash off if you want it to.
Entering as an individual costs 315 kr, which is around £35, or if you enter as a team of four or more it’s 299 kr (around £33) each. This will get you a running shirt, a tattoo, coloured powder, a participant number and sponsor goodies. If you don’t want to run, you can still join in with the fun – spectators can buy packets of coloured powder to take part in the Finish Line Festival.
The race takes place at Valby Park, which is around half an hour away from Generator Copenhagen. To get there, walk to Nørreport Station and take the A or E train to Ny Ellebjerg Station, which is just a few minute’s walk from the park. Alternatively, a taxi would take less than 15 minutes.
If you want to kick-start the colourful theme on the night before the race, head down to Kulørbar, a colourful nightclub just a short walk from the hostel. Kulørbar is also home to Topdollar, which is a cosy cocktail bar where you can relax if you want to conserve your energy for the fun day ahead.
