Regatta Boats Exhibition at Ca’ Rezzonico
For hundreds of years regatta boats have been floating on the canals of Venice and the locals take immense pride in the artful decoration of these boats. The Ca’ Rezzonico, Museum of the 18th century Venice has a beautiful collection of portraits of the most spectacular regatta boats from the last 200 years.
These boats take part in the most important ceremonies in the city and so the most significant artists of the day, like Giambattista, Tiepolo and Francesco Guardi, were drafted to design the vessels. This exhibition is an interesting insight into the life of 18th century Venice and worth a couple of hours out of the hustle and bustle of the city.
