Copenhagen Photo Festival
Every day we are faced with photography in all sorts of media and in Copenhagen in June you will be able to see hundreds of amazing contemporary photos all over the city. The Copenhagen Photo Festival is all about putting exciting images in front of a new audience.
You can expect new and up and coming artists’ work to be shown side by side with established national and international photographers. There is even a chance for amateur photographers to get their best pictures out there in the public eye.
The exhibition encompasses the whole city – there will be pictures shown in metro stations, on many of the major streets like Ny Carlsberg Vej and Sankt Peders Stræde, and at the town hall square as well as other locations. This brings the art right out into the view of shoppers, visitors and tourists and you may find an image that changes your perception of the world.
You are likely to find clusters of art students hovering around works discussing the finer details of the subject and technicalities. The Copenhagen Photo Festival is a fantastic way of getting work seen, which is really what it’s all about.
Once you have had your fill of arty photography, what better way to digest it than to find a trendy cafe, sit around discussing the works with some freshly brewed coffee and a handmade Danish Pastry? Try Kaffi on Vestmannagade, just back from Islands Bryyge. This place has exactly the right sort of relaxed, friendly atmosphere and great coffee.
For a full on sit down dinner then head back towards Generator Copenhagen, and Cap Horn at Nyhavn. The interior is very cosy and homey with a slightly worn look about it that shows how popular it is. There is also a lovely little beer garden out front which is great for people watching but for chilly days they have a warm log fire inside too.
