Copenhagen Fashion Week
With a swirl of silk, the flashing of cameras and the clicking of high heeled shoes Copenhagen Fashion Week opens this month. The average style sense of the city will go up as designers and fashionistas from across the globe descend on its hallowed streets.
The Copenhagen Fashion Week seems to have its own flair and is often seen as a slightly quirkier trend-setter than London or Paris. If you are looking for new ideas and don’t want to follow the same old lines then you could be in for a treat.
Primarily, Fashion Week is the preserve of the trade but running alongside it is the more down to earth and accessible Copenhagen Fashion Festival. With more than 200 events the festival will help you to feel part of the whole Fashion Week experience, even if you can’t get in to the big catwalk shows. You can pick up a programme for the festival in many of the shops in the city.
There will be fashion exhibitions, street parties, mini-concerts, competitions and trend shows, if you are desperate for the latest look and what is on trend for spring. Many of the famous stores in Copenhagen, like Illum, will be having Fashion Week related events with cutting-edge discounts, so you will be able to pick up the latest look for a bargain price.
One particular highlight is the stiletto run at Amagertorv on Strøget. Some people seem to be naturally more comfortable in high heels than others, so why not prove to your friends that you can totter with the best of them and run a 100 metre dash in your highest pumps and leave the dusty old trainers at home. There are fantastic prizes for the winners like spa trips and foot treatments; you may need these after running in your best shoes!
