Grec Festival Barcelona 2014
What could be better on a warm summer evening in the beautiful city of Barcelona than an open air concert in an historic location? That is just what the Grec Festival is all about a series of amazing gigs at the iconic Grec Theatre.
There is plethora of different events so you can pick and choose what to see and what dates you can make. From classical and jazz music to contemporary dance and even circus acts the programme is packed with amazing talent.
We have picked out a tiny selection to give you a taster:
A prominent singer in Spain and particularly Catalonia, Marina Rossell is known for her love of traditional Catalan music. So if you are looking for something very local and a bit classical then this will be a treat.
Sun by Hofesh Shechter
A wonderful contemporary dance piece now with Hofesh Shechter’s Sun. Having come from London’s Saddler’s Wells theatre last year to rave reviews, Sun is a very up to date work that is full of wit, energy and ambition.
Batolomé encadenado (Bartholomew Chained)
This interesting remake of the Prometheus story has a very modern twist. Instead of fire the hero must return to mankind the treasure of the World Bank!
Tango Night with Mora Godoy
Something definitely fun with more than a hint of sensuality: Tango Night with Mora Godody will have your blood racing.
The Teatre Grec is at the foot of the Montjuic Hill and can be reached on the L3. It takes about half an hour to get there. There are some stunning views across the city from the top of the hill, so it could be a good idea to make a day of it there before the concert and you will be able to get a good seat by being first in the queue.
