FIB – Festival International Benicàssim
Soaking up the warmth of the summer sun with a happy crowd and some of the best music in the world – that is what festivals are all about. The Festival International Benicàssim or FIB is a little way down the coast from Barcelona at the beach resort town of Benicàssim and tends to attract a younger party crowd.
One of the great things about this festival is that the gigs are generally later on in the day so you will have a chance to relax on the beach for a few hours and recover from the party the night before if you need to.
Despite being a relatively unknown member of the European summer festival circuit its popularity has increased dramatically and now they attract some big names to headline the main stage. This year you can expect to see the likes of Kasabian, Paul Weller, Jake Bugg and Ellie Goulding and here are a few more acts that will round out the programme:
This English indie band is very new on the scene but look like they will be doing big things. Here is one of the singles from their self titled debut album “Settle Down“ to give you a taster.
Another young man who is just starting to make big waves in rock music, Paolo Nutini seems to be able to hit just the right notes. With his recent big hit “Scream (Funk My Life Up)” he is one to watch.
Chase & Status
It takes about 2.5 hours by car or train to get to Benicàssim from Barcelona so it is probably a good idea to get your tent out. It is possible to camp a couple of days either side of the festival itself so you won’t be rushed to get there or leave and you can take some time to chill out.
