Welcome to the world of a true backpacker! Pay attention or you may end up swimming here.
You can find us just one ferry stop away from St Marks Square on the Island Giudecca. There are a few different routes you can take, but the cheapest and most efficient for those on a budget is Route One (see below) which is by bus and ferry (Vaporetto). A private taxi (Route 3) is quicker than this but costs over 100 Euros. We like to give you all the options so knock yourself out:
Getting here from the Airport…
ROUTE ONE – The bus and ferry
For the most efficient route on a budget. As you exit the airport you’ll the see the bus terminal straight in front of you.
Take the ATVO bus service to Venice Piazzale Roma. The service only takes about 20 minutes. Tickets are €6 one way (€11 Return) and should be bought on the plane or at the airport.
Once you arrive at Piazzale Roma, walk to the Vaparetto stop.
Catch the vaporetto (Ferry), taking the number 2 or 4.1 or N2 or N4.1 (night service) to Giudecca Island and get off at stop ZITELLE. Tickets for the Ferry can be bought at the airport or in the bus station and it is 24 hours.
We recommend buying a ticket that’s valid for your whole stay so that you can travel almost anywhere in the laguna.
They will sometimes recommend travelling by Alilaguna (Route 2) because it is ‘direct’, but bear in mind that is longer and more expensive.
Note: The ATVO bus service runs from both Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Aiport.
Drop us an e-mail for more info.
ROUTE TWO – The Alilaguna (Public Boat)
For those of you who want to travel by water and don’t mind a longer scenic route. To get to the stop from Marco Polo Airport follow the signs to “the little harbor” (250 mt outside the terminal on your left) where you can find the public boat “Alilaguna” (check the timetable on www.alilaguna.it). This takes 1h40min to Giudecca Island.
Get off at stop Zitelle. Generator Venice is 100m on your right.
Taking Alilaguna public boat costs €15 for a one way ticket (€27 return) and is fantastic on a sunny day as you can enjoy a fantastic tour of the Venetian Laguna.
Tickets should be bought at the aiport.
ROUTE THREE – Water Taxi
For those of you who want to travel in style because trust us it aint cheap. A water taxi will cost around €100 one way from the airport and can hold up to 4 people. It only takes 40 mins max so is extremely quick.
Getting here from Santa Lucia Train station…
When you arrive at the Santa Lucia train station, you’ll find the Vaporetto stop right outside. Take the number 2 or 4.1 and get off at stop ZITELLE. GeneratorVenice is 100 meters up on your right.
