Welcome to the world of a true backpacker! Pay attention or you may end up swimming here. Generator Venice is sitting on the waterfront of beautiful Guidecca Island, just one ferry stop from St Marks Square. Here’s how you find us and a walking guide to download.
There are a few different routes you can take, but the cheapest and most efficient for those on a budget is Route One (see below) which is by bus and ferry (Vaporetto). A private taxi (Route 3) is quicker than this but costs over 100 Euros. We like to give you all the options, so see for yourself.
From the airport
Route 1 – The bus and ferry
For the most efficient route on a budget. As you exit the airport you’ll see the bus terminal straight in front of you.
Take the ATVO bus service to Venice Piazzale Roma. The service runs from both Marco Polo Airport and Treviso Aiport. The journey will take about 20 minutes. Tickets are €6 one way (€11 Return) and should be bought on the plane or at the airport.
Once you arrive at Piazzale Roma, walk to the Vaparetto stop.
Catch the vaporetto (ferry), taking the number 2 or 4.1 or N2 or N4.1 (night service) to Giudecca Island and get off at stop Zitelle. It is a 24 hours service and tickets for the Ferry can be bought at the airport or in the bus station. We recommend buying a ticket that’s valid for your whole stay so that you can travel almost anywhere in the laguna.
Route 2 – The Alilaguna (Public Boat)
For those of you who want to travel by water and don’t mind a longer scenic route. To get to the stop from Marco Polo Airport follow the signs to “the little harbor” (250 m outside the terminal on your left) where you can find the public boat “Alilaguna” (check the timetable on www.alilaguna.it). This boat will take you to Guidecca Island in 1h40min. Get off at stop Zitelle. Generator Venice is 100m on your right.
A ride on Alilaguna public boat costs €15 for a one way ticket (€27 return) and is fantastic on a sunny day as you can enjoy a fantastic tour of the Venetian Laguna. Tickets should be bought at the aiport.
Route 3 – Water Taxi
For those of you who want to travel in style. Trust us this isn’t the cheapest option. A water taxi will cost around €100 one way from the airport and can hold up to 4 people. The journey will only take 40 minutes, which is extremely quick.
From central station
When you arrive at the Santa Lucia train station, you’ll find the Vaporetto stop right outside. Take number 2 or 4.1 and get off at stop Zitelle. Generator Venice is 100 meters up on your right.
