Close Up Look At Head Lines At Top Festivals
Summer is the time of festivals in London and we are planning to take advantage of the warm weather and awesome music. So if you want to know what is going on at the biggest and best on the festival circuit in London this year, don’t’ worry we have done the hard work for you:
Hard Rock Calling – 29th June – 30th June
The first official gig at the brand new Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be Hard Rock Calling. With headline great acts like Bruce Springsteen, Paul Weller and Kasabian it is bound to be awesome. We like the look of some of the smaller acts like the Zac Brown Band. They have won three Grammy’s and that says it all really, go and see them. Local London boys Tribes are another act to keep an eye on; they are on before Kasabian so give them a cheer. Cody ChestnuTT is a rare creative force. His sound is more of a soul and funk mix with a touch of rock. So no matter what brand of rock you are into Hard Rock Calling will deliver.
Lovebox – 19th – 21st July
Lovebox is more of a party gig with the best dance music in the city. With some of the best DJ acts like A Love From Outer Space and Horse Meat Disco allowed out from their usual venues you are in for a weekend of top dance and house tunes. Big names doing sets include Annie Mac, Mark Ronson and Plan B but check out Bicep (video). Two guys who just set up their own music blog (Feel My Bicep) and are now top producers of high quality house and techno mixes. Canadian DJ Heide is the brains behind the Jackathon. This is all about energy and unleashing dance-floor magic. For a bit more Drum and Bass try Fred V & Grafix. They have worked with the likes of Emeli Sande, Rudimental and Camo & Krooked so you know they will be good! If your idea of a great night out is pulling an all-nighter at the top house club in London then this festival is for you!
Yahoo! Wireless – 12th – 14th July
Another huge gig at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is Yahoo! Wireless Festival. With headliners Justin Timberlake and Jay Z dominating the stage as well as Emeli Sande, Rita Ora and Will.I.Am you can expect a brilliant party here. Look out for new rap boy A$AP Rocky. He is just starting to get some well deserved recognition in the rap world. Also worth seeing are the Drop City Yacht Club a trio of upfront and honest guys who will rap about almost anything and make it sound good. Phlo Finister started out as a stylist at Def Jam records which was the ideal jumping off point for her own music. Her beautifully silky and cool voice is almost hypnotic so we know that her set will be amazing. Wireless is all about the soul and R&B so head down there for a smoooooth time!
