Best Club Nights to See in the New Year in Berlin
Berlin is a city that knows how to party, so it’s no surprise that when it comes to New Year’s Eve, there is a wide range of clubs and events to choose from. The city’s Brandenburg Gate offers a lively celebration with food, drink and fireworks, but it’s not your only option – if you want to dance the night away to great DJs and live music, here’s a glimpse of what else is on offer.
How about something completely different this New Year? We bet you haven’t been to one of these before – this is Europe’s biggest paint party. Taking place at Columbiahalle, it’s guaranteed to be very fun, and very messy. The event comes complete with Paint Canons and Paint Handguns firing neon paint on all cylinders. Just add breathtaking light, sound and special effects as well as appearances from artists, acrobats and international DJs, and you’ll have a night you won’t be able to forget (and maybe not wash out of your clothes very easily, so wear something you don’t care much for – dress code is a white shirt). Presale tickets start at €15, and the fun starts at 9pm.
This party at the Fritz Club spans four floors of R’n’B, house, chart music, and all time favourite hits. Tickets start from €16 depending which you purchase – your basic ticket simply gets you into three of the four floors; the silver ticket includes access to the all-inclusive floor, a welcome drink and selected drinks until midnight; and the gold ticket gets you free drinks all night. If you’re feeling hungry (not to mention a little flush), you can go all out and grab a platinum ticket, which includes food and cocktails. The event starts at 10pm and it’s at Postbahnhof, next to the Ostbahnhof train station.
The E4 Nightclub is located at Potsdamer Platz and offers exclusive views while you ring in the new year. It spans three levels, playing international and original Berlin club music, house and classics. Tickets are all-inclusive, covering beer, wine, champagne and soft drinks, but they don’t come cheap – this popular event has already sold out of its early booker ticket, and “First Class” tickets come in at €69. A great night out for everyone and the party starts at 10pm.
If you’re looking for a psychedelic New Year’s Eve (who isn’t?), check out Changed Elements over at Club R19 in the trendy district of Friedrichshain. Described as a “psychedelic progressive trance journey”, it consists of two floors, with more live acts and DJs than you can shake a stick at. All that dancing will make you hungry, so they’re going to lay on a free vegetarian buffet – and you’ll need to refuel, because the party starts at 10pm and doesn’t finish until 6pm the following day. Well, we did say Berlin knows how to party!
