Thierry Noir: A Retrospective Exhibition

Those of you who were out and about in Shoreditch last night; did you by any chance spot that unbelievably long line of people queuing to enter what looked like a closed store? Well last night, world renowned artist Theirry Noir, officially launched his “A Retrospective” exhibition at the Howard Griffin gallery on Shoreditch high street. Being his first ever solo exhibition, we got our selves down to the gallery not only to show some #GenLove but also… ever since he decked the walls of Berlin Mitte, we can’t seem to get enough of his work.

We arrived on the scene to a swarm of fellow art lovers buzzing as they perched themselves along the railings outside the exhibition, it was a great atmosphere. It took a while for us to get in, time well spent listening to infiltration techniques from the rest of the crowd.  But when we did, it was worth the wait because ‘Retrospective’ is exactly that. A retrospective of Theirry Noir’s craft, the very thing that made him the renowned artist that he is today. As the first artist to illegally paint on the Berlin Wall, his iconic style though seamlessly harmless, symbolises a sole act of defiance and a lone voice of freedom.

The exhibition features these monumental pieces of art, along with additional pieces. Amongst his inspiring work are rarely seen photographs of the master at work as well as exclusive interviews and films.

By the end of the night we finally got to catch up with the man himself, who was exhausted from entertaining the hordes of guests that poured in throughout the night.

We hope to work with Thierry again, so watch this space. But until then, make sure you pop down to the Howard Griffin soon and witness some truly inspiring work!

The exhibition will run until 5th May 2014
