Generator Amsterdam… opening 2015!

Boiler Room bar - Generator Amsterdam

Ok we couldn’t keep this one under wraps any longer – but the Generator family just got a little bit bigger because next year we’re opening Generator Amsterdam! Located right next to Oosterpark, we’ll be accommodating up to 566 guests with a luxury apartment to boot.

The history

Well it wouldn’t be a true Generator without a bit of historical value. The property was built in 1917, it’s since been the Zoological and Health Sciences department for the University of Amsterdam.

The décor + features

The property will have 168 en-suite twin and quad rooms with gorgeous views of the park or garden. Throughout Gen Amsterdam, you can expect high ceilings, stylised architecture and locally inspired interiors. We’ll be adding two extra floors with glass walls and just like Barcelona, we’ll also be kitting this one out with a luxury apartment for 6 people. The ground floor will include a lobby with glass fronted elevators, a raised café with a terrace and outdoor seating area overlooking the park. Of course we’ll have a chill out lounge and bar which will sit in the former lecture hall, while the old library will become an intimate relaxation area doubling as a private meeting room. The basement will be fitted with a spacious dining space and a secret bar tucked away in the original boiler room.  Like the café and ground floor bar, the intimate speakeasy will be open to both our guests and locals. Excited yet?

The Location

With the park all but 10 feet away, our guests will have access to one of the biggest parks in Amsterdam. Oosterpark is beautiful as it is but if the current plans to rejuvenate it is anything to go by; you guys are in for a treat. Just like all Generators, this one’s quite central and Amsterdam Centraal is just a tram ride away. You’ve also got Dam Square and the Museum district 15 minutes away by bike.

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.
