2013: A Year to Remember
2013, what a year! We have won awards, opened three new hostels, organised amazing competitions and much, much more. But you may have already read about all this because we have been featured everywhere!
Are you a business man who reads The New York Times? Then you have probably read the piece about hostels not being only for backpackers, picture of Josh Wyatt, Investment Director at Patron Capital responsible for the Generator brand, included. Do you prefer the Wall Street Journal? Not a problem, we had it covered with an article about us opening in the US.
If you live in London, have you seen those gorgeous pictures of Generator Venice in the double page spread in Stylist or the full page in Metro? Sure you have!
Or if you are one of those design types then go look for us in We Heart and Urban Junkies.
Because design is one of the (many) things we do best, you just need to look at all those brilliant interiors. They are so good we have even won awards! And we have to thank Anwar Mekhayech and The Design Agency for that. They have done an extraordinary job with Barcelona, Venice and Berlin Mitte and Anwar is, from his Creative Director position, setting a new standard at Generator.
In 2013, The Design Agency have had great success with the Generator Barcelona project. The stunning design has been shortlisted for the prestigious FX Award, won the Golden Key Award in the Best Hotel Budget/Focused Service and been an Honouree in the Interior Design Best of Year Award. Ester Bruzkus, who was the guest architect in the Generator Berlin Mitte project, had her great work at the hostel recognised with the World Interior News Award. We are still waiting to hear about some others so stay tuned!
Our London hostel, the first and original Generator, has had a bit of a facelift in 2013 too. The new design concept builds upon the notion of the “City as an Event”, where layers of history, styles and designs are uncovered and collected within one building or space. The idea includes the inherently eclectic cultural, architectural, stylistic, and historical mash-up that makes London what it is. Words and pics are great but we encourage you to visit and see for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
2014 will be even more exciting with many thrilling (and still top secret!) news and the opening of Generator Paris, you better dust off that old French grammar book and get practising because it’s going to be a good one!
Happy New Year!
